“Making the Most of Summer Getaways” by faungg
Summertime is upon us, and for the fortunate ones, it transforms into a grand opportunity for a holiday! You’re probably already aware that online searches for slashed hotel rates and airline fares can lead to substantial savings; did you also consider other minor savings hacks? Here are three simple and hassle-free strategies for economical yet enjoyable vacations.
1. CARRYING YOUR OWN FOOD
This straightforward tip could already be part of your practice. These days, many accommodations provide fully-equipped kitchens, allowing you to cook rather than dine out continuously. Making and packing breakfast items like oatmeal and owning the snack front can help you save about $100 or more on your trip.
The savings from this tip can be variant. It may not be as beneficial while traveling abroad, for instance, in Asia, where food can be costly. However, it can be quite a moneysaver in the US or Europe.
2. UNCOVER LOCAL RESTAURANT DISCOUNTS
Eating at local eateries is generally cheaper than frequenting famous chain outlets. Though you might perceive a pricey meal as a much-deserved indulgence while traveling, it’s wise to tame the urge. Besides, local dining can be a fascinating experience, offering unique food and atmospheres compared to the usual McDonald’s. Look out for discounts on Groupon-like platforms or Restaurant.com, or examine local papers for coupons upon your arrival.
3. RESEARCH YOUR DESTINATION
Smart savings depend on adequate research. For instance, some museums offer free admission days (investigate free entrance possibilities with a Bank of America card). A variety of attractions may provide early bird discounts or advertise on deal sites. To illustrate, while planning a weekend in Phoenix, I discovered a city pass deal a week prior to the trip, letting us explore multiple attractions. We were even able to reuse it on a later visit.
Each penny saved counts, regardless of how far you’re traveling. Turn a regular day of family fishing into an affordable outing by buying a second-hand boat on eBay, thereby avoiding a rental fee. The funds from these transactions support children’s charities, helping children from less fortunate backgrounds. Buying the boat, instead of renting, allows you to return for a fishing trip any weekend, and not just special occasions. However, if you wish to finance your boat, be prepared with all necessary information for the application process. Lenders will consider boat specifications and potential risk when assessing default rates.
Remember, various saving methods can make a significant difference to your travel budget, turning spare change into additional enjoyment funds.
